iPhone Dev-Team / MuscleNerd Updates RedSn0w to Resolve Issue With MobileSubstrate

The iPhone Dev-Team has updated RedSn0w to resolve a problem with MobileSubstrate that occurred when rerunning the jailbreak.

The b3 version of redsn0w fixes a problem where re-running redsn0w over an existing jailbreak would cause MobileSubstrate-based apps to stop running until MS was installed again. Now you can re-run the redsn0w jailbreak step without worrying about that (but still remember to de-select the “Install Cydia” option if it’s already installed).

RedSn0w and Corona Updated to Fix Launchctl Error With Untethered Jailbreak

RedSn0w and Corona have been updated to resolve a launchctl related error experienced after jailbreaking, thanks to help from saurik and planetbeing.

The b2 version of redsn0w includes the launchctl-related fix by @planetbeing as mentioned by @saurik here and here. As usual, you can just re-run redsn0w in jailbreak mode over your existing 5.0.1 jailbreak (even a PwnageTool one), making sure to de-select “Install Cydia” if you do. Always be sure to do a controlled “slide to power off” shutdown of your device before running redsn0w.

iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak for Non-A5 Devices Has Been Released!

Pod2g’s untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, and iPad 1, has been released, according the iPhone Dev-Team.

A few days ago, @pod2g gave the untether to both the iPhone devteam and the chronic devteam. We’ve put it into redsn0w 0.9.10 and PwnageTool, and the chronic devteam put it into a Cydia package (the same set of exploits is in all three).

It has been almost 8 weeks since the first declaration by pod2g that he had found a bug that he believed could provide an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5. We find ourselves exactly fifty

Siri0us Has Been Pulled From Cydia What do You Think?

Developer Eric Day has removed Siri0us, an app that enabled Siri Dictation on the iPhone 4, from his Cydia repository.

Day posted on his Twitter today that he removed the package so that he wouldn’t get into trouble, presumably from Apple or Nuance.

My site is down, PLZ DONOT try to access my site any more. Siri0us is removed. I have to keep my site up for activating iBluever!

@myRepoSpace Can you please remove this package? As it uses unauthorized service. Please do not make me getting sued.

Apple Releases iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch – Jailbreakers STAY AWAY

Apple has released iOS 5.0.1 for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (build number (9A405). iOS 5.0.1 is available for the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, iPad, and iPad 2.

Jailbreakers should stay away from this release, if you want your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to be jailbroken with the Untethered option then stay away from this update and do not update your iDevice to this version of iOS

Apple Siri Gets Hacked to Recognize Custom Commands, Chpwn reported today.

Siri has been hacked to allow for custom commands, and this news was reported by Chpwn. I think we all know this was just a matter of time and now it is starting to happen.

Apple new “agent” was hacked and I’m sure pretty soon we will be able to add our own commands to make this special agent work for us like it was intended.

Basically: @tmm1 has found an initial way to add custom Siri commands, starting with integration with @github’s hubot.

Hubot is a library and an executable that wraps up all the logic of connecting to chat servers. Right now there are adapters for Campfire
